French listed real estate group Societe Fonciere Lyonnaise (SFL) has announced the appointment of Bertrand Julien-Laferriere as the company's CEO.

French listed real estate group Societe Fonciere Lyonnaise (SFL) has announced the appointment of Bertrand Julien-Laferriere as the company's CEO.

The move follows the decision by SFL's board to separate the roles of chairman of the board and CEO. Julien-Laferriere will carry out his responsibilities alongside Juan Jose Brugera Clavero, who will continue as chairman.

Julien-Laferriere joined Unibail-Rodamco in November 2007 as chairman of the company's development division. Unibail-Rodamco announced on 5 October that he had left the company but did not mentioned the SFL appointment.

Julien-Laferriere holds an engineering degree from Ecole Centrale de Paris, a Master of Science from the University of California, Berkeley and an MBA from Insead.

Before joining Unibail-Rodamco, he served as chairman of CGW Gestion d'Actifs and CEO of Bail Investissement Fonciere. He has also held senior positions at Club Mediterranee, Accor Hotels and Ricardo Bofill Architects.

Julien-Laferriere will assume his new responsibilities on 18 October 2010.

SFL owns a commercial real estate portfolio valued at EUR 3.3 bn, mostly located in the Paris Central Business District.
