SES Spar European Shopping Centers is strengthening its market position in Croatia with a new mandate to manage the new Mall of Split shopping centre from autumn 2015.
Croatian owner Mejaši prvi d.o.o. commissioned SES to manage the scheme which is expected to be completed in the autumn. Split is the second-largest city of Croatia and the largest city of the Dalmatia region.
With a leasable area of over 60,000 m2 and more than 200 shops, the complex is the largest shopping center in the SES managed portfolio. In addition to its own malls, SES also manages shopping centres for investors in Austria, Slovenia, northern Italy, and Hungary.
The Mall of Split has three shopping levels and 2,300 parking spaces on two underground parking levels and includes an entertainment area with a multiplex cinema and a casino.
'The Mall of Split is another pearl for our exquisite portfolio of shopping centers,' said Marcus Wild, CEO of SES Spar European Shopping Centers, which is part of Austrian retail giant Spar.
Spar Austria has been active in Croatia since 2005 and operates a branch network of 50 food markets in the country. SES has been represented on the Croatian market since the acquisition of four Ipercoop markets in 2009.
SES Spar European Shopping Centers is currently developing and operating 28 shopping centres offering a total of over 750,000 m2 of leasable space in Central, Southern and Eastern Europe.
