The newly-completed Schloss-Strassen shopping centre (SSC) in Berlin yesterday opened its doors to the first customers. Built on the site of the famous Hertie department store, the new shopping centre has more than 70 stores and 16,100 square metres of rental space.

The newly-completed Schloss-Strassen shopping centre (SSC) in Berlin yesterday opened its doors to the first customers. Built on the site of the famous Hertie department store, the new shopping centre has more than 70 stores and 16,100 square metres of rental space.

The centre was developed by the German property arm of Generali Insurance Group and Berlin-based real estate company Tenkhoff Properties, and has already attracted international names such clothing company Zara, US toy firm Toys'R Us and German supermarket operator Rewe. The SSC's operators are predicting 30,000 visitors a day.
