Stadelmann will add Schmid’s role to his existing one as head of the Frankfurt office.

Schmid joins Barings as part of the US asset manager’s reorganisation of its German business in a drive to increase its investment there.

Late last year, Barings announced it had spun off its original German team headed by Christoph Wittkop along with its third-party advisory business.

Schmid’s new role is head of acquisitions and sourcing across Germany and across investment strategies.

Savills said Stadelmann takes over 'a highly motivated team that will continue to accompany transactions in Frankfurt and the surrounding area'.

Schmid’s move client-side follows Piotr Bienkowski’s recent departure from BNP Paribas Real Estate where he had been Germany CEO. Bienkowski had built BNP PRE into a top capital markets brokerage firm in Germany. He joined ABG Real Estate last month.
