UK-based broker Savills has appointed Simon Shaw as the group's new Chief Financial Officer effective from 16 March 2009. He replaces Mark Dearsley who, as previously announced, left the company on 13 February 2009 to join Partnership Assurance.
UK-based broker Savills has appointed Simon Shaw as the group's new Chief Financial Officer effective from 16 March 2009. He replaces Mark Dearsley who, as previously announced, left the company on 13 February 2009 to join Partnership Assurance.
Shaw, 44, is a chartered accountant and was previously CFO of Gyrus Group, the FTSE 250 international medical devices business, until its sale to Olympus Corporation in February 2008. Prior to that, he was Chief Operating Officer of Profile Therapeutics and a corporate financier at Hambros Bank Limited. Shaw is currently a member of the techMARK Advisory Group of the London Stock Exchange and is non-executive Chairman of Synairgen.
Commenting on Shaw's appointment, Jeremy Helsby, CEO of Savills, said: 'Simon has an impressive and extensive track record, and brings very valuable international commercial and financial skills to our management team.'
Last week, Savills reported a 61% fall in 2008 pretax profits in preliminary figures issued on Wednesday.
