International real estate adviser Savills has announced the appointment of Borja Sierra as CEO for its business in Continental Europe. He will work with existing European chairman, Simon Hope.

Sierra joined Savills in 1998 and was responsible for its Spanish business for 10 years including leading the Spanish capital markets team. He moved to Savills New York in 2008 to undertake the role of executive managing director in charge of cross-border investment, and was also responsible for the coordination of its US client base in dealing with Savills' offices in Europe, Asia and Australia.

Sierra will be based in London but the majority of his time will be spent in Continental Europe working alongside the country heads on building their businesses and growing client relationships.

Jeremy Helsby, CEO of Savills, said: 'Following a two-year period in which we have restructured our European business, we have made good progress this year and are now in a position for growth. Borja’s role will be to grow our European business as we expand in our core geographies and widen our service offering.'
