Spanish construction group Sacyr said it has raised its stake in France's Eiffage just under the one-third level which would trigger a full takeover bid, but added it is not planning to cross that threshold. Sacyr Vallehermoso has a 33% interest in Eiffage and 29% of voting rights.

Spanish construction group Sacyr said it has raised its stake in France's Eiffage just under the one-third level which would trigger a full takeover bid, but added it is not planning to cross that threshold. Sacyr Vallehermoso has a 33% interest in Eiffage and 29% of voting rights.

The company is trying to win five seats on Eiffage's board to secure cooperation on new projects. At the same time, the French group Eiffage is firmly refusing this proposal, saying there are no possible synergies with Sacyr. Separately, the French public works group said Wednesday it has agreed to buy a stake in the Czech republic's sixth-largest builder Tchas.
