Finnish logistics firm S-ryhmän logistiikkakeskukset (S Group) has commissioned a joint venture of Skanska and Lemminkäinen to construct a new facility for consumer goods delivery in Sipoo, east of Helsinki.
The logistics centre will have a gross surface area of around 193,000 m2 and a capacity of around 3,400,000 cubic metres. Because of its large scale, the project will be carried out in five overlapping phases. The recently signed preliminary contract covers the implementation of the entire project, but actual construction contracts will be made separately for each phase of the implementation. The construction contract for the first phase is scheduled to be signed in early 2013.
BREEAM (BRE Environment Assessment Method) certification will be applied for the new logistics centre, to be built in northern Sipoo’s Bastukärr. The work is planned to begin in summer 2013, with completion of the contract scheduled for autumn 2018.
