Royal London Asset Management Property has appointed Will Edwards as portfolio fund manager for the £6 bn (€7.2 bn) Royal London Property Pension Fund (RLPPF).
Edwards brings with him a strong track record of delivering tailored property investment strategies and impact-led objectives for funds with differing vintages, structures and return targets.
The fund, part of Royal London’s Governed Range, has an investment philosophy to invest in best-in-class real estate for the long term, driving returns and outperformance through proactive asset management across the lifecycle of its properties.
Edwards' focus will be on delivering the optimal fund strategy, maximising the performance of each property, further embedding responsible investment principles, and sourcing acquisitions to complement the existing portfolio and capitalise on favourable market conditions.
He has over 20 years’ experience in developing and executing investment strategies across the UK property sector. He joins from Legal & General Asset Management where he was head of emerging strategies and a senior fund manager.
He created the Sustainable DC Property Fund, managed close ended real estate vehicles, and was responsible for leading joint ventures with strategic clients. During his time at Legal & General he completed over £2.5 bn of investment transactions.
Said Edwards: 'I’m excited to join the Royal London Asset Management property team and lead RLPPF. Our focus will be on identifying new investment opportunities, and maximising good outcomes for our investors. I am looking forward to working with the team and building on the fund’s success in the years to come.'
Mark Evans, head of property at Royal London Asset Management, said: 'Will’s extensive experience and proven track record in managing real estate investment funds will be invaluable as we continue to grow RLPPF and deliver long-term value to our investors.
'I look forward to working with Will and continuing to drive the fund’s success forward. Will’s appointment reinforces Royal London Asset Management’s commitment to the property sector.'
