Roger Gray has been appointed chief investment officer at the Universities Superannuation Scheme. He succeeds Peter Moon, who is retiring after 17 years at USS.

Roger Gray has been appointed chief investment officer at the Universities Superannuation Scheme. He succeeds Peter Moon, who is retiring after 17 years at USS.

Gray was previously CIO at Hermes Investment Management. Before joining Hermes in 2006, he was Global Head of Asset Allocation/Currency at UBS Brinson and CIO at Rothschild Asset Management. He has over 25 years of investment management and institutional advisory experience.

USS is a pension scheme in the UK for academic and academic-related staff in certain UK universities.

The pension scheme is an active investor in real estate. In August, USS unconditionally exchanged contracts with Equiton GP to acquire all the property assets in the UK of the Equiton Industrial Partnership for £196 mln (about EUR 228 mln).
