Rockspring Property Investment Managers has appointed John Thompson as managing director of its business in Spain and Portugal.
Thompson will head a five-person team at Rockspring’s Madrid office which oversees the firm's Spanish and Portuguese transactional and asset management activities. This appointment follows the decision of James Preston, former managing director, to step down and devote himself to other business ventures.
Thompson joined Rockspring Iberia as a director in 2006, shortly after the office was opened in 2005. Alongside Preston, he has played a key role in developing and overseeing the firm's Iberian business. Thompson has assumed greater management responsibilities since 2013 when Preston began working on a part-time basis.
With over 32 years of real estate experience, Thompson has been active in the Spanish markets since 1991 and a resident of Madrid since 1995. Prior to joining Rockspring Iberia, he was an equity partner and head of investment at King Sturge, Spain, and before that ran Weatherall Green & Smith's Madrid office.
Rockspring has been investing in Iberia since 1991 and currently manages a portfolio of €400 mln in Spain and Portugal across all sectors of the market.
