Resolution Property has successfully prelet almost 50% of its Honfleur Designer Outlet scheme in Normandy and construction of phase 1 has now begun.
The 19,000 m2 outlet centre will feature over 100 stores and three restaurants in two phases, covering 13,000 m2 and 6,000 m2 respectively.
Resolution, which is working with operator Advantail, said it had secured brands including Galeries Lafayette and other leading sports and fashion names.
'Honfleur Outlet is a significant step forward in our strategy to expand our portfolio of top quality factory outlet centres in Europe. It promises an unprecedented level of quality and creativity in its conception and design, in an accessible location with very strong retail potential,' said Michel Nangia, head of Spain and Outlets in Europe at Resolution Property.
'We are working with a solid team not only to develop this major new retail destination but also to create the best possible tenant mix, brand and marketing strategy. This builds on our long-proven approach to asset management in this specialist sector,' Nangia added.
With a catchment population of 2.5 million and no competing centre within a 90 minute radius, Honfleur Outlet will be the first outlet centre in the Grand-Ouest region of France. Open seven days a week, 365 days a year, it is expected to welcome over 2 million shoppers per year.
Resolution said that architect Edouard François’s Norman-inspired design would combine medieval street patterns with plant-covered rooftops to blend with the surrounding landscape.
Construction on phase 1 has begun, due for delivery in autumn 2017.
