About 70% of the new centres will be in the Netherlands, while Belgium will make up for 25% and Luxembourg for around 5%. Regus' expansion in the region is part of the company's aggressive global growth strategy. The firm intends have 3,000 locations worldwide by the end of 2010.

Schaepman notes that demand for flexible office space has kept increasing since the onset of the financial crisis as firms are more and more concerned about cost savings. 'Since January we have seen an increase in demand of about 20%-25% per month. A larger number of companies prefer, in these uncertain times, to have flexible leases. Regus offers them the possibility to get rid of space in excess right away, while with the convention lease structure they would have to wait until the lease expires.'
