Retail property specialist Redevco opened the 50,000 m2 Gordion Shopping Centre in Ankara on Thursday. Gordion is Redevco's first completed project in Turkey, the firm's first green shopping centre and the first BREEAM-certified building in the Turkish capital.

The centre has a total of 160 stores, a 13-screen cinema - the largest in Ankara - operated by Cinebonu and parking for 2,500 vehicles. The key tenants are Carrefour, Electroworld, Zara, C&A and Marks & Spencer.

Gordion has been awarded a BREEAM certificate with a rating of 'Very Good' and is the first green shopping centre and the first BREEAM-certified building in Ankara, with a population of 4.5 million inhabitants.

Redevco opens its second Turkish project in Erzurum on 8 October 2009. Like its other developments in Turkey, Redevco's 32,000 m2 Erzurum project served as a pilot project for the development of the BREEAM Europe Retail scheme and was recently awarded a BREEAM certificate with a rating of 'Very Good'.
