Dutch privately-held retail specialist Redevco said on Wednesday that its Cascade Shopping retail park is opening its doors following a major two-year redevelopment project.

Located in the Belgian city of Drogenbos, the complex offers 29,000 m2 of space let to several international retailers such as Carrefour Planet, Brico, and Pizza Hut as well as 800 parking spaces. It was originally built in the 1970s and was in sore need of renovation when Redevco started redeveloping it in early 2010. The outdated Disport store was demolished to create new two-storey units for SportsDirect.com, PointCarré and Luxus. The existing Brico store was also demolished to make way for a new Dreamland. Brico and Brico Garden are now housed in a new combined store in the complex.

Redevco has invested EUR 15 mln in the redevelopment project, which was designed by architects Jaspers-Eyers & Partners. Cushman & Wakefield found tenants for all the new additional units.

Redevco, part of the Swiss Cofra Holding, is both developer and owner of the property.
