German fund manager Real IS has raised more than €500 mln in equity capital from institutional investors so far this year.
The Munich-based company said its new division, Real IS Global Investment Solutions, developed a closed-end fund with a volume of €120 mln for a German insurance company to invest in an office building in Paris.
The new division's strategy is to acquire large-scale assets and make them available to institutional investors both inside and outside Germany in the form of tailored single investments, joint ventures and club deals.
Real IS also launched a fund for a major German superannuation scheme with €150 mln equity and an investment volume of €250 mln once debt is added. The fund will seek to acquire a core/core-plus portfolio, diversified between residential (senior living, student and apartments) on the other hand and office, retail, logistics and hospitality on the other.
The focus will be on Germany, but assets may be acquired across the eurozone or Europe in general. Real IS will carry out the asset and property management for the fund.
In addition to the individual mandates, Real IS raised more than €250 mln in equity commitments from savings bank, agricultural credit cooperatives, pension funds and other superannuation schemes, for other theme funds and its BGV series of vehicles.
