CBRE Global Investors has partnered with the UK’s All-Party Parliamentary Group (APPG) for Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG).
As a founding sponsor, CBRE Global Investors will work alongside the APPG for ESG, an informal, cross-party group, to facilitate impartial discussions and to deepen parliamentarians’ engagement with investors and the industry on key matters concerning the dynamic between British businesses’ operations and strategies and ESG concerns.
The APPG plans to deepen the understanding of ESG principles and values among British businesses and ensure the importance of ESG is recognised by both the corporate world and government departments.
The founding sponsors will contribute to the discussion to build a comprehensive list of ideas to be put forward to the government, ahead of UK policy and legislation being developed.
Robbie Epsom, EMEA head of ESG at CBRE Global Investors, said: 'This partnership with the All-Party Parliamentary Group is in line with our ‘Influence’ pillar from our sustainability vision – the core principles that guide our ESG strategy – that we launched earlier this year.
'As well as considering ESG principles in business decisions, we aim to maximise our positive impact through careful reporting and targeted partnerships, such as this. We are excited to have this opportunity to contribute to the government’s ESG policy agenda, and to help encourage UK companies embed ESG considerations into their business strategies, leading to a more sustainable future.'
Alexander Stafford, chairman of the APPG on ESG, said: 'I founded this APPG because ESG is a hot button issue in business and commerce which can no longer be ignored.
'One of our key objectives is to push for clear and definitive parameters for businesses to practise ESG, something I know CBRE Global Investors is equally invested in.
'The financial services sector has made impressive progress in the implementation and measurement of ESG in recent years, and I'm delighted to have the CBRE Global Investors team's ESG expertise as part of our group.'
