The fifth edition of the Provada real estate fair which gets underway today at the RAI exhibition buildings in Amsterdam will see visitor numbers grow yet again, according to director Flip Kerkhoven. 'Last year we had 20,542 visitors and a total surface area of 20,000 m[sup]2[/sup]. Including all the conference rooms, this year the surface area totals 21,000 m[sup]2[/sup] and I expect around 23,000 visitors will come.'

Despite the economic downturn, the organisers saw only one exhibitor cancel their participation. On balance, the number of exhibitors has risen, said Kerkhoven. 'More government organisations have a stand this year, including local municipalities.’ The number of foreign participants is also higher, Kerkhoeven said: 'We have seen increased interest from Germany and Belgium. Aside from German mortgage banks Aareal Bank and Deutsche Hypo, the Belgian municipality Knokke-Heist also has a stand at the fair.'
A novelty at this year's event is the Provada Green Market. An initiative of the Dutch Green Building Council, SenterNovum and Triodos Bank, Provada Green Market will feature 20 companies activie in the field of sustainability and energy savings.
