Dutch publisher FD Mediagroep (FDMG), co-shareholder of PropertyEU, has acquired IPE International Publishers, owner of Investment & Pensions Europe (IPE) and IPE Real Assets.
Based in London, IPE covers the pensions, institutional investment and real assets sectors across Europe and globally, with daily news alerts, regular in-depth print publications and reports under the IPE and IPE Real Assets banners.
The group also runs events, including its annual European conference and awards, as well as annual real estate and infrastructure conferences and awards.
Amsterdam-based FDMG publishes the Netherlands’ leading financial newspaper Het Financieele Dagblad as well as a number of business-to-business titles focused on the pensions, energy and impact investing sectors, among others.
Commenting on the takeover, Mariska van der Westen, director of FDMG’s B2B division FD Business, said: ‘IPE has evolved over 25 years to become the trusted source of independent industry news and information for European pension and investment professionals, and through its specialty brands - IPE Real Assets and IPE DACH - for the global institutional real estate investment industry, and the German-speaking (Germany, Austria and Switzerland) region.
'We continue to invest in strong, independent editorial content and also see opportunities in region-specific events, Europe-wide data products, optimised subscription models and an improved offer for advertisers.’
Wabe van Enk, founder of PropertyEU and (Dutch language) sister title PropertyNL, welcomed the deal as providing a further boost to building strong real estate investment data in Europe.
‘For PropertyEU in particular, but also for PropertyNL, IPE's international knowledge and data in the field of institutional portfolios strengthen our position as a publisher of deal-oriented real estate information,’ he said.
At the time FDMG acquired a stake in PropertyEU last year, Van der Westen said: ‘Publications such as PropertyNL within the Netherlands and PropertyEU targeting European markets, fit very well within our existing portfolio of top-tier trade publications covering the energy and legal industries, macro-economics, impact investing, and pensions and investment.’
FDMG CFO Jeroen van Dijk added: ‘Our aim is to provide need-to-know information to business professionals in the Netherlands and, increasingly, Europe. As a leading publisher in the areas of property and real estate investing, PropertyEuro is a great fit for our ambitions.’
