Private real estate funds raised $17 bn (€14 bn) globally in October, bringing the total for the first 10 months of 2014 to $140 bn (€113 bn) - the second biggest haul on record.

Data compiled by Indirex, the online community for unlisted real estate, shows that excluding infrastructure, $17 bn was raised by 72 managers. Final closings in 2014 already exceed last year at $95 bn.
Global funds dominated in October, accounting for 31% of equity raised with American funds very close behind with 30%. European funds are back in the mix with 23% of raisings as 22 secured $3.87 bn in commitments. South America features with 7% due to the GLP CPPIB logistics JV.
