Logistics facility giant Prologis said it is developing a new 102,190 m2 distribution facility for UK retailer Marks & Spencer with sustainable design and construction features. Prologis said the facility would be built to achieve a minimum rating of Very Good under the BRE Environmental Assessment Method (BREEAM), the UK's national standard for best practices in sustainable development and environmental performance.
In addition to meeting the BREEAM standard, Prologis said it has committed to achieving carbon neutral status for the building, offsetting any emissions produced during construction through the purchase of carbon credits and other means. In addition to warehousing and office space, the Marks & Spencer facility will include training rooms, onsite catering and staff facilities.
The building will be developed at Prologis Park Bradford, a 90-acre business park located in the county of Yorkshire in northern England. At full build-out, Prologis Park Bradford will contain two buildings comprising up to 116,000 m2 of space. Prologis said it plans to develop additional office and industrial space on the site on a build-to-suit basis, and is currently marketing the park to businesses with local and regional offices.
