Prologis has signed a built-to-suit development contract for a 31,000 m2 distribution centre for an online electronic retailer in Prague.
Under the agreement, Prologis will develop a new distribution centre for Mall, a regional online consumer goods and electronics store, at Prologis Park Prague-Jirny.
'Our decision to move to a new distribution centre was based on driving profitability and serving our customers in a timely manner,' said Oldrich Petranek, international operations director at Mall. 'We needed a prime location and highly advanced distribution space. Prologis Park Prague-Jirny offers both.'
Ben Bannatyne, managing director of Prologis Central and Eastern Europe, added that the agreement reflected ongoing demand from e-commerce customers for Class-A logistics facilities.
Prologis Park Prague-Jirny is 97% leased. It comprises 213,000 m2 with build-out potential for an additional 120,000 m2.
Prologis owns and manages a portfolio of more than 4.1 million m2 of logistics and distribution space in Central and Eastern Europe as of end-September 2014.
