Prologis European Properties Fund II (PEPF II) has acquired an 8,000 m2 facility at Interporto Bologna, one of the largest intermodal logistics locations in Europe.

The acquisition adds to the existing 122,500 m2 that the fund acquired in a separate transaction earlier in 2015. Financial details of the latest deal were kept confidential.

Built in 2005, the facility was developed for parcel courier services. The building is occupied by and was sold by Sifte Berti, an Italian supplier of international transport, domestic distribution and logistics services, and by Palletways, a provider of express palletised distribution services.

The acquisition increases the size of Prologis’ portfolio at Interporto Bologna to 13 buildings. 'This acquisition expands our presence at Interporto Bologna, a location of prime importance for logistics and transport in Italy,' said Sandro Innocenti, senior vice president, country manager, Prologis Italy. 'Prologis also has the option to expand the facility by 100,000 m2.'

Prologis owns and manages over 960,000 m2 of distribution space in Italy.
