Industrial real estate specialist Prologis has acquired a 38,600-m2 distribution centre near Rotterdam, the Netherlands, from an unnamed vendor. Financial details were not disclosed.

The distribution centre is located in Moerdijk close to an international seaport and container terminal on the Hollands Diep River. Moerdijk is part of the Trans-European Network of waterways benefitting from connectivity with Belgium, France, Germany, the Netherlands and beyond.

The acquisition expands Prologis' portfolio in Moerdijk from three to four properties, which together provide a total floor space of more than 94,000 m2. The customer is a logistics service provider, which leases nine properties from Prologis across Europe.

Thomas Karmann, senior vice president, Northern Europe, said: 'Moerdijk is well regarded as an important distribution hub thanks to its excellent facilities and transport links. The acquisition of this high-quality, modern facility adds to our significant platform, the most strategically-located in northern Europe.'

Prologis acquired the facility on behalf of its Europe Logistics Venture 1 Fund, and was advised by Jones Lang LaSalle and Lexence.

Prologis holds around 13 million m2 in Europe.
