French property group Primonial has recruited Fabrizio Bonavita as real estate director for the group's asset management business in Italy.
Bonavita will focus on enhancing the value of Primonial's Italian real estate portfolio, representing close to €700 mln of assets under management and consisting primarily of health, education and retail real estate assets. He reports directly to Laurent Fléchet, Primonial's managing director in charge of real estate activities.
Bonavita will be responsible for identifying new investment opportunities in Italy, in order to support the Group's European real estate development and its growth ambitions, especially in the healthcare, education and residential real estate sectors.
Based in Milan, he will be the first point of contact for Primonial's Italian institutional investor clients. He joins from Sedco Capital, where he held the post of vice president based in London, responsible for the management and acquisition of European and US assets, with a key role in setting up both the operations and the real estate investment team responsible for deploying capital across the risk spectrum.
He previously spent nine years at AIG Global Real Estate in London where he was in charge of the origination and structuring of real estate investments. There he managed or advised on transactions (acquisitions, exits or restructurings) worth a total of more than $2 bn.
Bonavita, aged 45, started his career in 2001 in Milan before joining BNP Paribas Investment Banking in Paris and then Cushman & Wakefield in London.
