Portuguese developer Beltico group has received the go-ahead to develop its Falesia D'El Rey five-star golf and resort project in Óbidos, near Lisbon.
Located on a 230-hectare frontline site on the Silver coast, the resort will offer an 18-hole golf course, a five-star hotel overlooking the sea, and a second boutique hotel with spa, swimming pools, tennis courts, shops and exercise circuits. The development will consist of 475 luxury rooms and suites around a golf course designed by American architect Pete Dye.
Stuart Swycher, president of the group which also built the Portuguese award-winning Praia D'El Rey golf and beach resort, noted that the area has become an internationally-recognised tourist destination after the opening of the Praia D’El Rey resort, with around 250,000 people visiting the holiday park every year.
Beltico Group is also the owner and operator of the Marriott Praia D’El Rey golf and beach resort hotel offering 180 rooms and the developer of several resorts in Brazil, including Pousada dos Girassois, Quinta da Lagoa, Praia do Amor resorts and Fazenda Estrela.
Through its UK subsidiary London & Lisbon Properties, the group has developed Westgate in Aldershot, Hampshire, a £130 mln (EUR 155 mln) retail and leisure complex.
