'We feel that all-equity purchases give you a competitive advantage in this market, because it allows us to move fast and close deals in a record time as we don't have to wait for bank approval,' Portico's acquisition director Robert Herman told PropertyEU.

The company, which has a committed equity of over EUR 300 mln, has recently been active in a number of CEE countries. In the second quarter of 2010, it bought four Penny Market stores in the Czech Republic from Redevco, bringing its total portfolio to over 50 properties in Poland, Czech Republic, Hungary and Romania.

Portico Investments primarily focuses on the acquisition of grocery stores and local supermarkets across CEE.
