The Polish warehouse market set a new record in the first quarter of this year, with a total of 270,000 m[sup]2[/sup] of new warehouse space delivered, compared with 500,000 m[sup]2[/sup] delivered in the whole of 2006, according to property consultant Cushman & Wakefield.

Poland's modern warehouse space now stands at 3 mln m2, up 33% on the year-earlier period, with another 860,000 m2 under construction. The biggest rises were in the regions of Wroklaw, Upper Silesia, plus Gdansk and Poznan. Warsaw is still Poland's biggest warehouse market, with total stock of 1.6 mln m2, 55% of the country's total warehouse space.
The first quarter saw leasing transactions for a total of 290,000 m2 of warehouse space, driven mainly by logistics operators and retailers.
