Two new towers are set to join the classic leaning tower of Pisa by 2012: the Italian developer Bulgarella is planning to start the development of two high-rise projects in June 2007. In the south-eastern Ospedaletto districts, the company intends to build a 57-metre tower, which was designed by architect Dante Oscar Benini. The development includes a total of 250,000 m[sup]2[/sup] of offices, commercial spaces, hotels and houses.

The project, to be developed on a five-hectare site, will involve an investment of EUR 180 mln. Construction is set to start at the beginning of June. On a 23,000 m2 plot of land in the Pisanova area, the company is planning to raise a 45-metre building which will include 350 residential units. The plan also includes a shopping mall and a covered parking lot, IlSole24ore reported.
