Global proptech venture capital firm Pi Labs has hired Stefania Ponzo as a partner giving the firm a professional with 14 years of experience to help boost further global growth.

Ponzo spent seven years at Coutts private bank advising Ultra High Net Worth (UHNW) clients globally on asset allocation and growth capital investment opportunities. She subsequently led fintech investments at Downing Ventures, a VC fund investing in UK-based Seed and Series A stage technology companies.

More recently, she was a portfolio director at generalist VC trust, Pembroke VCT, where she provided strategic and operational support and functioned as a board observer for a large portfolio including leading arts and culture tech platform, Smartify. In addition, she is a mentor in the early-stage tech community and an Angel Investor at sustainable investment app, Clim8 Invest.

At Pi Labs, the London-based professional will oversee the VC firm’s growing portfolio, and help steer company founders with strategic, financial and commercial support as it looks to scale up globally.

The appointment comes days after Pi Labs said it had secured $90 mln (€83 mln) for its oversubscribed latest fund, which will back technology startups in the real estate world from around the globe. Fund III's targets include startups that address sustainability challenges and help real estate owners achieve their decarbonisation goals, construction operations, the future of work and retail, metaverse development, robotics adoption, industrial tech and the enablement of smart cities

Of Ponzo’s hire, Faisal Butt, CEO and Founder of Pi Labs, said as an experienced and well-recognised technology investor, she would be invaluable for the firm’s startups looking to transform the built environment through technology.

The company was founded in 2014.
