Rabobank Pension Fund has become the latest investor in Bouwinvest's Dutch Institutional (BDI) Residential Fund.
The pension fund is investing €50 mln in the vehicle.
With AUM of €2.6 bn at year-end 2013, Bouwinvest’s Dutch residential fund is one of the biggest in the Netherlands. 'After careful deliberation, we opted for Bouwinvest. We have the same objective, namely achieving a stable, sustainable return for pension fund participants. I am confident that this investment will contribute to that,' said Jos Dirks, managing director of Rabobank Pension Fund.
Bouwinvest Residential Fund comprises some 15,000 high-quality rental homes, primarily in the private sector. One of the main long-term aims is to offer investors a sustainable annual return of 6%. The fund has a long-term strategy, combined with active asset management.
Since the inception of the fund, the Bouwinvest Residential Fund has outperformed the IPD/ROZ Index. 'The demand for medium-priced, liberalised rental housing in the Netherlands is considerably higher than the supply. That provides stable quarterly incomes, which is specifically appealing to pension funds. The liberalised rental sector is therefore an interesting investment,' confirmed Bouwinvest's CEO Dick van Hal.
The Bouwinvest Residential Fund has no leverage and aims for a low to average risk profile.
Bouwinvest REIM is one of the largest Dutch investment managers specialised in real estate with total AUM of €6 bn at year-end 2013. Bouwinvest manages four Dutch institutional sector property funds, three of which are open to institutional investors. Bouwinvest REIM also manages separate mandates for international real estate investments in Europe, North America and Asia-Pacific.
