Nordic community builder Peab has won a SEK 346 mln (€29 mln) turnkey contract from AB Stångåstaden for the Jägarsoldaten 1 mixed-use property in the new city borough of Djurgården, Linköping.
A health care center and eight premises from 52 to 2,400 m2 will be on the ground floor, while the remaining floors will host 176 apartments from one to four rooms and a kitchen.
Peab will build five adjoining buildings with two to fourteen stories.
Construction will start in October 2023 and completion is due by the end of 2026 or the beginning of 2027.
Anders Bergeling, region manager Peab, said: ‘We’re pleased to be entrusted with carrying out this interesting project together with Stångåstaden. The good work we did together during Phase 1 has paved the way to now continue into the production phase, and we look forward continuing our excellent collaboration.’
Fredrik Törnqvist, MD AB Stångåstaden, added: ‘We continue to build and enable Linköping to grow. These are troublesome and tough times but that doesn’t change the housing shortage. If no one dares invest in hard times we risk finding ourselves with an even greater housing shortage when the economy improves. It feels fantastic to pass go right before vacation when others are putting on the brakes. Partnering has made all the difference in being able to proceed with the projects at a construction price that makes them doable.’
The facade will be made of plaster, traditional brick and slate and two of the buildings will have roof terraces.
The goal is for the buildings to be certified according to Miljöbyggnad, level Silver.
