London-based private equity firm Patron Capital and its local development partner, Suprema, have launched a 51,100 m2 office redevelopment in Berlin.

The project known as EightFloors is located on Franklinstrasse in Berlin’s Charlottenburg district. Architect Gewers Pudewill has designed the refurbishments, which include a new glass-and-steel tower with a new reception area, gym, roof terrace, lounge and entrance area.

The renovations is expected to be completed in 2017.

The National Metrology Institute of Germany (Physikalische Technische Bundesanstalt) has agreed to lease 2,000 m2 in the complex and will be moving this spring. Media Design Hochschule, a private university for media and design with campuses in Munich, Dusseldorf and Berlin, has taken a further 3,500 m2,

Patron said that several other lease agreements are already in advanced negotiations and are expected to be signed shortly.

'Our redevelopment plans at EightFloors will create a contemporary workspace with a wide range of on-site amenities and flexible floorplates that can accommodate both smaller lettings and larger requirements which have traditionally been difficult to meet in the increasingly popular City West area of Berlin,' said Christoph Ignaczak, investment director at Patron Capital.
