UK real estate investment trust (REIT) Liberty International said Patrick Burgess would replace Sir Robert Finch as the chairman of its board, effective 31 July. Finch is stepping down after three years as chairman of the company, explaining in a statement that he now wanted to pursue ‘a number of very promising opportunities’.
‘We have achieved much in my time at the company. It is now a REIT, we have repositioned Capital & countries and I leave with the company well placed for the years ahead,’ said Finch, who will continue to serve as a consultant to the group for two more years.
Burgess is the chairman of Liberty’s audit committee. He is a former senior partner at the law firm Gouldens, which merged with Jones Day in 2003, and is a non-executive director of Standard Bank London.
