Logistics giant Panattoni Europe is constructing a build-to-suit 7,000 m2 facility for European distribution firm Dachser.
The new property is close to the existing Dachser Maas-Rhein logistics centre in Alsdorf, near Aachen, and will allow the company to expand its contract logistics business serving Germany, the Netherlands and beyond.
The building will comprise a mixture of hall space, office and social areas and is due to be completed in June 2019. It is Panattoni's fourth project for the German-based family firm following developments in Überherrn, Erlensee and Öhringen.
Dachser provides transport logistics, warehousing and customer-specific services by land, sea and air. In 2017 it handled 81.7 mln consignments weighing 39.8 mln tonnes and had a turnover of €6.12 bn.
Fred-Markus Bohne, managing partner of Panattoni Europe, said: 'In times of lengthy approval procedures and capacity bottlenecks in the construction process, constructive cooperation between all parties involved is a crucial factor for success. In this sense, working together in partnership with Dachser has already led to project success many times.'
Thomas Burger, head of real estate at Dachser, said: 'Panattoni is implementing this project according to our specific requirements. The benefits of this location and our long-term collaboration with Panattoni point towards successful project development.'
