Logistics property specialist Panattoni Europe has started the construction of Castorama Polska, Poland's biggest development project of its kind so far this year.

The facility will serve as the central warehouse for Castorama Polska, the home improvement and construction hypermarket chain owned by UK-based retailer Kingfisher. It will provide a total of 50,000 m2 of space including 780 m2 of offices in Stryków.

Colliers International brokered the deal.

'Panattoni Europe's project for Castorama Polska is the biggest in the warehousing property sector since the beginning of 2013 and at the same time one of the biggest spaces ever built,' the developer said in a statement.

The scheme is due to be completed in the first quarter of 2014.

'As the largest DIY chain in Poland, Castorama must have a logistics centre matching its needs,' commented Dariusz Barszczewski, logistics director at Castorama Polska.

Panattoni Europe has already developed around 100,000 m2 of space in Stryków.
