Panattoni Europe has been awarded a contract to develop a new logistics complex for logistics group Dachser in the Überherrn munipicality in Saarland, Germany.
'After completing a logistics facility for Dachser in Öhringen in Baden-Württemberg last year, we are very proud to have been commissioned to build another facility for this company,' said Fred-Markus Bohne, managing partner of Panattoni Europe. The building is designed so that it can be extended to provide a further 20,000 m2 of hall space.
The complex will be built on a site of 24,000 m2 and will comprise 10,530 m2 of warehousing and 600 m2 metres of offices. Construction work will begin this month and completion of the entire facility is scheduled for the end of October this year.
Panattoni Europe said that Dachser is a long-term tenant, and the new facility will add a further warehouse to the company’s already existing logistics centre in Saarland. It will enable the logistics group to expand its range of services in this location to include contract logistics, the efficient co-ordination of transport, warehousing and value-added services.
What makes development of the logistics centre in this location particularly attractive is Saarland’s geographical position at the interface between Germany and France, Panattoni said. The Häsfeld industrial estate in Überherrn is one of the largest commercial and industrial parks in Saarland and the entire border region. The construction of the new B 269 / RN 33 provides a good traffic connection to the German and French motorway networks, the company said.
