European logistics specialist Panattoni has strengthened its commitment to use green energy to power its warehouse parks and distribution centres as part of a commitment to achieve carbon neutrality by 2025.
From now on, all of Panattoni’s new facilities are to be exclusively supplied with energy from renewable sources. This year alone, 250,000 MWh of energy from renewable sources (RES) is to be used across Panattoni’s portfolio with a combined area of almost 3 million m2, in both existing and pipeline projects.
‘We want our company to generate zero-carbon emissions by 2025 and not leave any carbon footprint,’ said Emilia Debowska, sustainability manager at Panattoni. ‘This is our contribution towards a climate-neutral future and is in line with the Paris Agreement’s goal of limiting the rise in global temperatures to 1.5°C by achieving climate neutrality by 2050. We, as a company, want to achieve neutrality 25 years before this. And by doing so we will also be supporting our clients in their pursuit of their sustainability targets.’
Panattoni’s commitment to use energy supplies derived from renewable energy sources means that energy used has to come with guarantees in the form of certificates confirming the acquisition from hydropower plants, wind farms or solar power plants.
