Industrial developer Panattoni’s Dutch arm is building a 26,000 m2 distribution centre in the northern Netherlands for Belgian e-commerce firm Radial.
The BTS warehouse is located at Westpoort business park near the city of Groningen, directly visible from the A7 highway. Construction started early this year and completion is scheduled for September 2022.
The building is equipped with LED lighting and solar panels, and is completely gas-free. It is targeting BREEAM Very Good sustainability certification.
Radial, which is part of Belgian postal operator bpost, intends to use the warehouse to serve its national and international customers.
Menno Sluiter, site manager for Radial Netherlands, said: ‘We have chosen the distribution centre at Westpoort in Groningen to centralize our fulfillment activities in the Netherlands. This new sustainable location in the city of Groningen is easily accessible and offers us the opportunity to serve our current and new customers. We see opportunities to contribute to employment in this region and also to invest in technological logistics solutions. I look forward to achieving our growth ambitions with Radial Nederland in this new warehouse.’
CBRE acted as an advisor to Panattoni and Radial on the deal.
