Pan-European logistics real estate owner P3 has broken ground on a 20,000 m2 Build-to-Suit (BTS) automotive parts distribution centre in north west Germany for Peugeot Citroen.
The new scheme at Niedersachsenpark in Neuenkirchen will be P3’s first 'next generation' development in western Europe, designed and constructed to the highest environmental standards to ensure energy and operational cost savings, P3 said in a statement.
The new building will take P3’s German portfolio – which also includes eight standing warehouse assets - to 307,790 m2. The facility will become Peugeot Citroen’s central hub for handling spare parts distribution across Germany and into other EU countries.
The project will be called P3 Niedersachsenpark and will increase the total size of P3’s pan-European portfolio to over 3 million m2 for the first time.
The new facility will be developed on a 4-hectare site in the park, and will provide 17,000 m2 of warehousing plus over 1,000 m2 office space and a 2,100 m2 mezzanine area, allowing room for future expansion. The building is due for completion in April 2016.
