Rotterdam-based developer OVG Real Estate has handed over a new office to Cofely, part of energy group GDF Suez.

The 6,200 m2 building is a redevelopment of Cofely's original office on the home ground they have occupied since 1942 on Willingestraat in the port of Rotterdam. JHK Architecten designed the office, which will be used by the Cofely West Industrie division.

Cofely, a specialist in the field of energy-efficient technology, combined its expertise with green office developer OVG to design systems that will both save and generate energy.

OVG also worked with the Port of Rotterdam in a major clean-up of the soil in the old dock area.

Coen van Oostrom, CEO of OVG, said: ‘This redevelopment is a showcase for what can be achieved when different organisations combine forces. We are proud of this collaboration that has resulted in a sustainable redevelopment on Cofely’s home turf.'

The project partners were Wölbern Invest KG, lender ABN AMRO Real Estate Finance, contractor Dura Vermeer Bouw Rotterdam, Cofely and OVG Real Estate. DTZ Zadelhoff advised Cofely during the process.
