Nordic residential on investors’ radar

Residential real estate in the Nordics is shaping up into an impressive, low-risk play for international investors.

‘Until about three years ago, international investors weren’t really looking at residential real estate here at all,’ says Arvid Lindquist, Catella’s head of research in Sweden.

‘The turning point was probably Blackstone’s big indirect investment in the asset class, when it bought D Carnegie & Co in 2016,’ he adds. Blackstone bought 55% of the Swedish landlord’s business for SEK 8.3 bn (€860 mln).
