Spanish retail specialist Neinverhas received the environmental permit allowing it to kick off the development of a new outlet centre near Amsterdam in the Netherlands.

The scheme - Neinver's first in the Netherlands - will provide around 18,000 m2 of retail space as well as 1,950 parking spaces on the former industrial area of Sugar City in Halfweg. Designed by architects Soeters Van Eldonk, the scheme will offer a leisure and food-court area of over 1,000 m2.

Completion is planned for 2017.

'We are working closely with the municipality and local partners to make this project a success,' said Sebastian Sommer, business development director Europe at Neinver. 'We believe Amsterdam The Style Outlets will give a real boost to the local economy, significantly contributing to its development. This is largely due to the outlet centers potential of attracting tourists including foreign ones.'

Amsterdam The Style Outlets is one of three projects that Neinver is currently developing in Europe, with the other two being Viladecans in Spain and Werl in Germany.
