Multi Germany has received the 2009 Economy Award from the German-Dutch Chamber of Commerce for its innovative approach and substantial contribution to cross-border business between the two countries.

In its report, the jury said: 'Multi Development Germany, a subsidiary of the Dutch Multi Corporation from Gouda, recently opened a new shopping centre called Centrum Galerie, Dresden. This centre is one of the most modern shopping centres in Europe. This centre ... has not only boosted the entire inner-city to a much higher shopping experience, but is also the first and only shopping centre in Europe with a Breeam "Excellent" certificate.'

Centrum Galerie was designed by Dutch and German architects and contractors, while a number of Dutch retailers took space for their first shops in former East Germany. The shopping centre comprises a total retail area of 62,000 m2 spread over four floors with around 1,000 parking spaces.

Retail brands with significant positions in Centrum Galerie include Peek & Cloppenburg Weltstadthaus (10,000 m2), Media Markt (6,400 m2) , Karstadt sports (3,600 m2), Müller Drogerie (3,450 m2), Dutch fashion brand The Sting (2,900 m2) and Next (1,500 m2).
