Multi Vastgoed, the Dutch arm of pan-European retail property specialist Multi Corporation, has said it has eight new retail projects under construction in the Netherlands - a record number in over 25 years in the development business.
Managing director Heino Vink commented: 'Two things, above all, have enabled us to achieve this: excellent choices of location and the fact that we always go for quality'.
The biggest project is 'Stadskwartier' in Nieuwegein, near Utrecht. Cityplaza, the shopping heart of the town centre, is being doubled in size to 56,000 m2. Of the existing retail space, 7,000 m2 are being redeveloped, which means that a total of 35,000 m2 new retail area will be created.
This will make it one of the largest town centre projects in the Netherlands.
The other projects are in Dordrecht, Spijkenisse, Rotterdam, Zaanstad, Leeuwarden, Utrecht and Almere. Taken together, these retail projects will provide approximately 130,000 m2 of retail space. All of them will be delivered between 2010 and 2011.
Multi Vastgoed will start a number of other retail projects in the Netherlands in 2010.
