Dutch property group Multi Corporation said on Monday it has won three awards at the ICSC 2009 European Shopping Centre Conference for its Forum Mersin, Turkey and Victoria Square, Belfast. The Gouda-based shopping centre developer was the only multiple award winner at the conference held last week in Barcelona.
In the category of large shopping centre, the company's 71,500 m2 Forum Mersin received an award as best new development for its successful integration with the Turkish city. Multi's Victoria Sq in Belfast, UK won the ReStore Recognition and Commendation awards.
'Victoria Square is the first major city centre development in Belfast for 15 years and the first fully financed private sector investment of this scale ever in Northern Ireland. After 30 years of under-investment in Belfast after civil unrest, Victoria Square is tangible evidence of the 'peace dividend' in Northern Ireland,' the judges said.
