Forum Trabzon, a joint venture project between Multi Turkmall and Meinl European Land, opened its doors this week in the Turkish city of Trabzon. The opening ceremony for the 49,000 m[sup]2[/sup] centre - the largest retail development project in the Black Sea region - was attended by the Turkish prime minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan.

'Forum Trabzon offers the highest standard of retail and leisure space. I personally embrace and compliment the companies responsible. It sets an example and demonstrates to all international companies that Turkey is a growth area in a stable economic situation, with a good investment climate,' Erdogan said.

The centre, which features 170 shops, was developed by Multi Turkmall and co-invested by Multi Turkmall and Meinl European Land. Multi Turkmall Mall Management are responsible for the management of the centre. T+T Design, from the Netherlands, designed the project. Located in Trabzon, one of Turkey's most important tourist destinations, Forum Trabzon is anchored by a Migros hypermarket, Koctas DIY, Cinebonus (Mars Entertainment) multi screen cinema complex, and a Marks&Spencer department stores.

Forum Trabzon is the fourth largest shopping centre to be opened by Multi Turkmall within 20 months. The Istanbul-based unit of Netherlands-based Multi Corporation operates in Azerbaijan, Bulgaria, Romania, Georgia, Macedonia and Greece.
