Multi Development UK has been given the go-ahead for the construction of the £300 mln (EUR 402 mln) Summer Row development in Wolverhampton. The company received approval for the compulsory purchase of 72,000 m2 of land to the south of the city from the City Council this week.
The mixed-use scheme will include a shopping centre anchored by Debenhams as well as 85 other shops, a cinema and leisure facilities, homes and a new underground car park. The decision to allow the compulsory purchase will allow a deal with Belfast group Lagmar, which is taking a 50% stake in the scheme, to go ahead. Multi is set to open its first shopping centre in the UK next month in Belfast. It is also joint venture partner with Morley at a scheme in Bath.
