Gdansk-based Multi Development Poland announced it has received planning approval for the construction of the Forum Koszalin shopping centre on the southern edge of the city of Koszalin in northern Poland. Multi Development said in a press release that the mall will be the biggest retail and leisure centre in the region, targeting the area around Koszalin and the coast.
The direct catchment of the mall, which lies next to the Baltic sea, is about 450,000 people, rising to around one million during the tourist season. The centre will be developed through a joint investment of Multi Development Poland and Vienna-listed Meinl European Land Group.
The development will include two shopping levels offering 55,000 m2 of shops, restaurants, a multiplex cinema, a hypermarket and 1,600 parking spaces. The project also includes a landmark tower, inspired by the lighthouses of the Baltic coast nearby.
Forum Koszalin is designed by Multi Development´s inhouse design team T + T Design and and architects firm RKW Architektura I Urbanistyka Polska. Construction is scheduled to start in April 2007, with the complex opening to the public in 2008.
