Dutch project developer Multi Development has started construction of Forum Como, a project regenerating a former industrial area in the city of Como in northern Italy. The complex is scheduled to open in 2010.

Forum Como is a 42,000 m2 multifunctional project combining 15,000 m2 of residential, 8,500 m2 of retail, a 3,000 m2 hotel, 4,700 m2 of services and a fitness centre. The complex also comprises a museum surrounded by 22,000 m2 of public parks and areas.

'Forum Como is an essential element in the regeneration of the city of Como', Ben van Veggel, director of Multi Corporation Southern Europe, said at a ground-breaking ceremony at Como earlier this week. 'It will broaden the city’s range of offerings, rejuvenate the area, create cohesion and add new life to the city through its retail and residential content.'
